First broadcast October 15, 2007

60th Cannes Film Festival Special: After two highly acclaimed but noncommercial films, Little Odessa (1994) and The Yards (2000, subsequently re-released on DVD in an entirely different director's cut), writer-director James Gray returned to Cannes with We Own the Night, an action-packed character study of a cop's son (Joaquin Phoenix) who quits the family business to work in a disco-throbbing Brooklyn dance club circa 1989 and finds himself horribly entangled with the Russian mob. Gray, Robert Duvall, who plays the cop father, and Eva Mendes, the son's Puerto Rican girlfriend, discuss the movie and their careers in this Beyond the Subtitles exclusive.
