MUSIC TALK - Sound the Alarm
listen | listen with RealPlayer
First broadcast February 5, 2010

Artist, writer and Director of the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts Seth Kim-Cohen speaks with Elliot Stapleton about his ever-evolving artistic practice as well as his recent book, In the Blink of an Ear: Towards a Non-Cochlear Sonic Arts. Kim-Cohen discusses his beginnings in the indie music scene, writing and performing in bands such as The Fire Show, and how eventually his interest in the gallery arts led him away from music and into much variegated territory. He reflects on the limitations of rock music, and argues that sound art should move past...well, sound (41 minutes).
